The 60-hour IMI training is designed for individuals who want to become a qualified medical interpreter. This training is a comprehensive 60-hour introductory course designed by TIN to train bilingual individuals in the basic methods, techniques, and performance of medical interpreting. Each session will provide extensive information on interpreting techniques, roles, professionalism, ethics, cultural considerations, and the varied contexts in which medical interpreters are often called upon to interpret in healthcare settings. In addition, this training will provide extensive hands-on in-class participation and demonstration of acquired skills. Finally, the 60-hour IMI training will focus on general medical knowledge, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
