Introduction to Mental Health Interpreting 16-Hour Prerecorded Self-paced

This 16-hour how to work in mental health settings training is highly recommended to interpreters who have already taken the 40-hour ICI or the 60-hour IMI training. This trainingis designed to assist working interpreters in behavioral health settings to know what is expected of interpreters in this setting. This training will cover topics such as mental health in western and non-western cultures, mental health illnesses and the DSM system, interpreting for dysfluent patients, positioning in mental health how to work with patients experiencing psychosis and much more. This training is a prerecorded. Interpreters will be able to take this training from anywhere you like. This training will be available for participants from Sept. 9th through Sept. 13th.

    The 40-hour introductory course is designed by TIN to train bilingual individuals in the basic mechanics and techniques of interpreting. Each session provides extensive information on interpreting methods, roles, professionalism and ethics, cultural considerations, and the varied contexts in which interpreters are often called upon to work.
